Cardinals fans whiners? Yea, maybe a handful. But you don’t get considered the best fans in baseball by visiting payers without approaching the game with a pragmatic revererance. Every player in baseball including local stars Ryan Howard, Max Scherzer and Mark Buehrle want to play in St. Louis because of the respect the fans show these athletes and the game they play. We had THE greatest role model in baseball, Stan Musial, who hit over .310 for 17 straight years, was on 24 all-star teams and never once got thrown out of a game. Angelhonk–yea, that fits you perfectly. Why don’t you go sit in traffic and think abut that for a while. And while you’re at it, now that baseball will test for HGH during the season, watch how many of your pharmaceutical stars have “off” years.

Again…I am sincerely appreciative of the decade of great baseball he gave the organization. He will go into the HOF wearing a Cardinals hat. As someone else said when he signed with the Angels…the Cardinals got the Beatles. You are getting the later years solo compilations.

man you cardinal fans are whiners. if your organization wanted him back thay would have worked something out. they knew his contract was up at the end of the year and waited and left him hangin. didnt even discuss an extension til it was to late. talk about direspect to albert. he still has at least 5 big yrs left in him. look at last yr, did nothing the 1st month and still hit 290/30/100. and thats with no protection around him in the order. now with hamilton. we have the best 3-4 hitters in baseball. hope to see you in the series but looks like a feeway series in so cal.

I pretty much feel the same way—Like you been a life long card fan and saw all the great ones play from Stan Musial onward –The AP/STL thing was very special for both the city and the player and of course the fans but unfortuneatly this is the new reality–I give the Cards a lot of credit for doing everything they could do.

What Gibby said. I will add…It’s unfortunate he chose to leave.
He belonged in St. Louis (as Gibby also said).
After all…he already “made his money.”
He only cared about “winning championships.”
But what’s done is done.
Do I wish him ill will? Of course not. The dude gave his all to the organization for a decade.
As a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan I sincerely appreciate everything he did.
So much so…I will be in attendance when they open the season in Cincinnati.
But he made his bed and now he (and Angels) to lie in it.

Maybe not laughter but perhaps a sense of the Cards did the right thing, the Angels did a foolish thing and Albert really belonged in St. Louis………….
My hope is that this kind of thing will lead to restoring sanity to baseball which will be good for the game. Right now there are owners out there who I believe have changed the focus on who has the bigger ego, pocketbook or whatever. But as situations like AROD and AP and other develop just maybe the big shots will seee themselves looking like fools which when combined with those egos might change things in a hurry.
