Quirky? No. Wilson is a phony, completely fabricated persona. He created a marketable character to play in order to get media attention. He wasn't this guy throughout his entire career.
Did I just read a I don't know why they don't sign a Delmon Young....ummm where do we start maybe because he's an anti semite ass clown and just guessing that wouldn't go over real well with the owners and 28 fans they have left and his 220 avg ,poor fielding and injury history doesn't help either

Unwanted media attention? He's just a quirkier (and more talented) version of Turk Wendell.

I'd love for this deal to happen. He's lightyears better than Frank Francisco, and the opportunity to flip him for a prospect around the trade deadline doesn't hurt either.

I've been waiting for this. I'd love for the Mets to sign him, but they won't because someone will put together a Joe Nathan/Joakim Soria deal to bring him in and the Mets can't/won't go there.

Signing Brian Wilson as the full time closer would be a great idea if it happens for the Mets. As a Mets fan, if we are basement bargain shopping then why not sign P Jose Valverde, Matt Capps and Francisco Rodriguez to veteran minimum deals and rotate them between the bullpen and closing roles. The bullpen was the weakest part of the pitching staff last season and these moves will improve the pitching staff without breaking the bank.
Also, OF Delmon Young could be signed to help the outfield on a veteran minimum deal.
We are less than 2 months away from spring training so the closer we get to opening spring training, it will be easier to sign these guys to minimum or minor league deals.
C'mon Sandy, there are a couple of veterans you can sign for 1 year to improve the Mets.
