I’m not saying he’s worth his asking but with a weak free agent market the Sox way over paid for their signings.

Very few teams think any reliever is worth $13M+/year anymore….and nearly every team that is willing to spend that for 60-something innings of relief already has a guy they are paying that much. The market for expensive closers has been tiny for years as most teams realize it isn’t that hard to find one within your organization. Boras has to know this, considering how few teams are ever interested in any of his expensive relief pitchers.

They’ve signed or traded for just about everyone else. The sad thing is that despite the bloated payroll – that WILL come back to bite them regardless of what they say – they are still a good distance behind the Giants in the NL West. Throughout their roster, the Giants are filled with underachievers & underachieving superstars are the death knell for a baseball team. Just ask the 2008-2011 Mets.
