I do remember the instructor talking about the odd friendship between Melville and Nathaniel Hawthorne, who was rather small and reclusive, and how Melville would terrify him by riding up full blast in his front yard with his beard flying and pull to a stop right in front of him. I wonder if Brian has a horse.

Now, now. Don’t be bitter. I’m sure the reason Miggy’s under-represented in the fish catching this off season probably has something to do with seasickness or the like. I’m sure he’s off hunting moose or something, safely on land, and will bag a big one. After all boats aren’t his natural position. But he’s such a tam player that he’d have taken boats if Fielder wanted moose. Then he’d probably have been ok there, save for getting clonked by the boom once or twice.

Coda: just had to run out to Publix because we used up the last of our nonfat half and half this morning and lo, guess what's on special at the feesh counter? Eeeeeyep. You got it. Trout's grouper must have already made it to market. Bought myself a couple of pounds of fillets; one fillet, cut into bite sized chunks, is already marinating in the lime juice, slivered onion, diced hot and sweet peppers and cilantro marinade for ceviche tonight. Will bve sprinkled with choclo, toasted giant Peruvian corn kernels, before serving. Got the rest of it in a dilute lemon juice bath until later today, when it will be drained, lightly salted and peppered and tightly wrapped in cellophane until just before dinner tomorrow. I admit that some of this is an overreaction to the Troll cookout scene in The Hobbit, but any excuse to get happy in the kitchen will do.
