They hire them, but no one makes such a big deal about it. The so-called “statheads” and the old-fashioned baseball guys each have their place in a good organization. The “statheads” have just had better press ever since Billy Beane’s so-called success a decade or so back.

To be fair: Heyman et al are probably being paid more to do what they do than most baseball teams pay their analytics guys.

He was a bit more pointed–
Wake me up when a team hires Jon Heyman or Ken Rosenthal or Bob Costas or Buzz Bissinger or whomever to help with baseball decisions. Just thinking about how ridiculous that sounds tells you all you need to know about the respective authority of each group.
