B-Rob was the face for many years, he was the one shiny pece for a dreadful franchise. Wish he was healthy last season, but it was good to see him in the dugout during the post season. O's fans know he gave it all and without his efforts things would have been even worse at Camden.

I wouldn't say he deserves it at all. He's had barely 500 PAs total over the past three seasons, and hit for a .648 OPS. With all of the different injuries he suffered, and all of the time off, and the fact that he's now 35, for him to return and be able to hit enough to keep a job, let alone run the bases and play defense at anywhere near historical levels, is going to be difficult.

What he does deserve is an opportunity to win the job. Plus, considering that the Orioles don't have much in the way of second basemen in the system beyond an unready Jonathan Schoop, he does have a great chance of winning it.

I hope with all of my Orioles-loving heart that he does legitimately win the job and give the team one more productive season. My biggest worry, though, is that he'll simply be given the role and too much rope to hurt the club before a change is made.

I hope this is the end of the injury era for Brian Roberts. This kid has took long strides to get back to the Bigs, and he deserves the O's second base spot.
