Corey Hart to have knee surgery, miss 3-4 months

Bad news: the Brewers just announced that Corey Hart will have right knee surgery next Tuesday. The recovery time: three to four months.

Hart missed time last year with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. It was his first season as the Brewers’ first baseman, where he took over for Prince Fielder.  Mat Gamel will likely cover for him at first while he recovers.

Bad timing for Hart, who is in the last year of his contract and was looking for an extension for the Brewers.  He’s going to have to prove his health and effectiveness first, however.

Too bad – I’ve always thought he was a good, classy guy; plays the game the right way.

The plantar fasciitis may have been as a result of him compensating for the knee injury.

Whenever he gets healthy he may become a sleeper source for steals once again.

    So what the hell happened?

I heard he tripped while walking at night, as his vision was impaired.

One way to have your vision impaired is if you wore sunglasses at night. (just a hint for anyone not getting schlom’s joke)

Gamel has proven he can’t hit in the bigs, he’s a classic “Quad A” player. Don’t be shocked if Hunter Morris wins the job.

Gamel has not proven he can’t hit. And Morris could bat .500 with 10 homers this spring and there’s still no way he makes the big club this year coming out of spring training.

Will he wear his sunglasses during surgery?
