I would suggest that the Dodgers (like many MLB Franchises) are a Ponzi scheme where the only profits are found when you sell the team and kick the debt down the road. Baseball expands when it should contract and in the emerging new economy media enablers will no longer be able to inject capital into the arms of junkie owners. Monopolies are houses of cards and the Dodgers reflect the false market that major league has become. Amidst loss and loans how will the Dodgers spin downturn and deficit into dollars? Volume, volume, volume!

You would be even more PO'd if your cable provider wasn't T-W and they refused to carry your team's games. That happened in San Diego, where Fox Sports carries the Padres, but the local T-W carrier for 1/3 of San Diego won't carry the Fox Sports channel. My cable carrier, Cox, does carry FoxSports, and my bill jumped $8.

T-W sports and your local T-W carrier are two separate entities, with T-W Sports and Fox Sports in a national battle for sports channel supremacy. The cable carriers can pick and choose, so whether the Dodgers pick one or the other, some LA metro fans aren't going to get Dodgers games on TV. Congress should drop their fiscal cliff nonsense and address this!

Stiller--you would be right to be PO'd and I think even some sports fans might be a little PO'd if they realied how much they were paying for the largess of the Cable Company--I have seen figures as high as 50%. Has to be the biggest dirty little secret out there, but maybe not for long.

I am pissed that the other half of my cable bill goes to Real Housewives and Oprah. In 2012 Oprah made $165 million down from $290 million in 2011! Talk about overpaid.

The list of athletes starts near the end of these entertainers - http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/specials/fortunate50-2012/

"It’s believed that the Dodgers will sign the largest television contract in baseball history, perhaps as much as $7 billion."

Well its easy to bid so much when all you have to do is tell your current customer base, "because of rising costs," their bill is now X higher. Of course sponsors will pick up SOME slack as well.

If i didnt love sports, i'd be PO'd paying for cable when most of the expense is for sports.
