I fail to see why anyone would be excited about this guy. He's more hype than anything else. In 320 career innings — all in relief — Wilson has allowed 286 hits and 142 walks.

Wow, Papelbon is such a huge fraud that he managed to trick baseball-reference.com into posting these stats for 2012:

2.44 ERA (164 ERA+), 38 saves, 90 K in 70 IP.

But even if Papelbon hadn’t been one of the most dominant relievers in baseball last season, calling someone a “fraud” because he didn’t pitch well or needs Tommy John surgery is just stupid. As if they intentionally tricked people into thinking they were good for some reason.

i think brian was a breath of fresh air from the robotic company talk from players or the diva-ism (im sure that is not a word) of others. im sure he will find work somewhere but his alter ego will probably have to stay at home.

Why all the schadenfreude about Wilson? Like Robb Nenn, he sacrificed his arm to get the team to postseason wins. I have no problem with the Giants making a business decision about his usefulness, and I don’t feel sorry for Wilson either, who’s made plenty during his career. But give him his due.
