Griffey deserves to be in more than just the Mariners’ Hall of Fame. One of my favorite players adn always a class act. Sounds cliche to say “think what he could have done if he wasn’t always injured” but so true in his case.

I will never forget the moment KG Jr became the coolest player ever: Sept. 14, 1990, when he watched from the on-deck circle as his dad homered. Junior then stepped up and said, yeah, I can do that too. Boom. We will probably see Pat Robertson officiate a gay wedding before we see a dad and son homer back to back again in MLB.

What? Griffey before Leroy Stanton gets inducted? Stanton was the Mariners all time leader in homers at one time you know.

I’m a huge Reds fan, but seeing Jr in that Seattle Uniform just looks so much better. And to say junior got bigger over his career is true, except unlike bonds, Jr was just getting fatter and slower.

*Disclaimer, I am satirically accusing Griffey of steroid use below merely to point out how you can do this shit with everybody*

I don’t see why he shouldn’t. It pretty obvious he did steroids. We know steroid users have are often accused for three reasons: 1. A sudden, dramatic spike in home runs, 2. getting larger and 3. Paling around with other steroid users.

1. Griffey home runs jumped by *18*. Here was a guy who never hit 30…then he starts hitting 45 and then 50…nearly reaching Maris? The only players no named Ryan Howard to top Griffey in home runs in a season were Rodriguez (steroids), McGwire (steroids), Sosa (steroids) and Bonds (steroids).

2. Go look at a picture of Griffey from 1990 and then one from 2004. He got waaay bigger

3. A teammate of Rodriguez, Glenallen Hill, David Bell…should I go on?

I mean, just as much “proof” on Griffey as their is on a Bagwell or Piazza.

Griffey is above reproach.

Amazing too, considering how marginal he was after turning 31…..

Which actually makes it that much sadder he never “did everything he could to come back from injuries” quicker.

It doesn’t seem there is going to be any such thing as a sure thing for Cooperstown anymore. It is good Griffey Jr. gets some recognition now because you never know how long some guy that never played a game of baseball in his life may decide he needs to wait before he gets in.
