Ruben Amaro: Delmon Young to be the Phillies everyday right fielder

Jan 22, 2013, 4:33 PM EDT

In the Delmon Young thread I said that it looked like this move will block Domonic Brown in right field.  In the comments several people told me I was stupid, and that the Phillies would only use Young as a pinch hitter or a left fielder or a replacement footman in the event someone else on the staff was called to war and we wanted to avoid having ladies serving in the main dining room or some such. The Phillies would never just put Delmon Young in right field, right?

Well, about that:

Wowzers. Then again, if you have an arm like this, you have to put it in right:

I’m assuming at this point that Domonic Brown had an affair with Ruben Amaro’s wife or something. It’s the only possible explanation.

Ol Ruben better polish up that resume. Got a feeling he’s going to be axed in the next 18 months.

Craig you make it sound like this move blocks Domonic Brown, but who is the other outfielder who is a shoo-in for a starting job next year? From my calculation, only Ben Revere has a starting spot in the outfield next season. Brown could definitely make the team over Ruf or Mayberry. This move definitely does not block Brown.

If Brown plays left field so that Young can play in right, somebody needs to lose their job.

Amaro is a terrible GM anyway. He rode Gillicks’ coattails. He has decimated their farm system into a bottom 5 system overall and now he signs guys like Delmon Young and trades pieces for a mediocre player like Ben Revere. He’ll be out on his ear in no time.

Starting Elmon in LF is a joke….starting him in RF is…inconcievable.

I fully expect Ruben Amaro to now go start a land war in Asia.

PS- LOVE that video…my personal favorite is the one where on a normal single to LF over the hole, he takes 23 steps…TWENTY THREE..(counted them on the replay)..to get to the ball, comes up firing and doesn’t reach the infield with a runner scoring from 2b….awesome….Fat Geisha (called thus because he takes these tiny little tottering steps when he runs) is a disgrace. He plays like a 38 year old WoW momma’s basement nerd except at the plate for a couple 2 week stretches a year.

They don’t call him Ruin Tomorrow, Jr. for nothing!
