The Rays are going to re-sign Luke Scott

Speculated on the other day, a reality today: Marc Topkin reports that the Rays are going to re-sign Luke Scott.

No details on the dollars yet, and the deal is pending a physical. Also no word on whether the Rays require that Scott provide his birth certificate to prove his identity at the time the contract is signed. Because if they can counterfeit $100 bills, I think it’s a million times easier to counterfeit physical results, if you ask me. So, all it is, let’s just see if it’s real. Anybody can produce a urine sample, so let’s check it out.

Scott hit .229/.285/.439 for the Rays last year. But he’ll be way cheaper this year after the Rays declined Scott’s $6 million option.

Is this blogger-ese for “lukewhereyoufrom”? If so, you have to claim Carlo’s name is “Luke” if you want to appear clever about it.

That birth certificate likely indicates that he is 200 years older than he claims.

Not only that, he’d be Canadian and played by an Australian in the movies. Where the hell is this guy from?

Leaving aside the Wolverine jokes, I never got the impression that Luke Scottn was too bright. He must get by on his instincts.

If you’re seriously asking where he is from, a specimen as absurd and ignorant as Luke can only hail from one place: the land of flowers, beaches, and python hunting. A native son of Florida. (Don’t feed the natives.)

I looked up “Scott’s” place of birth on the intertubes. Says he’s from someplace called “DeLeon Springs”. I’ve never heard of that place. Nothing I know of comes from there. It MUST be made up. Perhaps it is next to Narnia, just before Bag End off of the Yellow Brick TurnPike. What’s next? Proof of “Hoboken”?

For a guy from a place referential to the fountain of youth, his skills are certainly aging rapidly.

I was going to go with an Amish angle, but yours works

Little known fact…he’s actually an understudy for an off-off-Broadway rendition of A Christmas Carol.
