I can throw a breaking ball. Once. Then my arm feels like its on fire and I have to resort to underhand after that. If I could throw 2 in a row, I’m pretty certain I’d miss widely since the only thing I can guarantee is the compass direction of the pitch.

st. Lou; I never 2nd a guess a guy in the heat of the moment. He was being charged by a guy in a different uniform. In a situation like that, you see the charging uniform first. Total tribal behaviour when its a fight. That’s why militaries and gangs all adopt some sort of unique colour or gear. It helps if what you see is a different “colour” rather than a person. He did what he felt he had to do in the middle of a fight. The End.

Of course. A few times during Football, and once playing in an Open divsion Softball tournaments. Dudes in the Softball tournament are as big as a small houss. As you will see in the open division. Muscle headed steroid abusers. Also happened a couple of times in College.

Hell…your boy was all the way out to the 1st base box BY HIMSELF and damn near in the dugout. Zimmer shouldn’t have charged him. He was 100% in the wrong in this respect.
And Pedro acted like a little Bitch shoving a girl to the ground.
Typically you have no problem admitting when someone you like is wrong. You can’t possibly think that incident rivals a full out brawl. At least Pedro and Don weren’t in it to that degree anyway. Personally, I am a huge Bob Knight fan. I think the sun pretty much rises and sets in his ass. But I will still admit Bob can be a cantakerous, stubborn, full-fledged asshole.

I think what he meant is that Burnett wasn’t just decent (which is all the Pirates were really hoping for), he was good. I think of it as kind of like playing gin rummy–the other guy’s discard fit my hand perfectly.

I disagree. We don’t have the kind of information required to make the claim that he grooved them. If its fastballs, then sure, groove-ish, but not too bad even so. Look at that location. Right in the bottom of the garage window, middle of the window frame. Strikes one and two. Its even better, though, if those were breaking balls: that’s right where you want them for strikes. In fact, that’s good for an array of pitches: curve, slide and cutter in that spot are nigh unhittable. Most guys practice that level swing that covers a lot of garage window. To hit two pitches at the bottom of the garage window batter’d have to uppercut it or be real short. Certainly there were guys who were good at hitting like that (Bonds for instance. But, lets face it, Bonds would own ANY pitch out over the garage window) but the majority of them? I think they wiff and the glass gets busted.

If he’s using the window as the strike zone, looks like he’s keeping the ball down, would be nice if he’d hit the corners instead of grooving it though.

Yes, and that delayed preparation and first start of 2012. Burnett didn’t have a decent season, he definitely had a good one, contrary to some of the dire predictions. It was a smart deal for the Pirates.
