After all that you think they would take the 5 tool player stuff out of his scouting report and realize he might not even be a 1 tool player at the MLB level.

sure, delmon can hit fifth. he can hit ninth. he can hit anywhere in the lineup.

he’s not going to be very fucking good at it, really, no matter where you bat him. but, charlie’ll figure this out pretty quickly, i’m sure…

the Phillies set out to improve the bullpen and the offense they got a 300 hitting centerfielder agood hitting 3rd baseman a bopper in rightfield an 8th inning guy and some other bullpen pieces. all it cost them was a little defense with that starting staff there won’t be many balls hit hard enough to field anyway

i dont even know why you would mention his obp in this story. Charlie was talking about his hitting ability not his ability to get on base. He is a career .284 hitter.

I’m not sure I get the point of this. When the Diamondbacks said negative (and from their end, truthful) things about Justin Upton everyone piled on them. Now Charlie Manual is saying positive (and probably not truthful) things about one of their players and everyone will make fun of him.

So you if you trade a guy away you must say positive things about him, whether it’s truthful or not. But you have to say truthful things about your own players, even if it’s negative.
