Tony Soprano’s daughter is marrying Lenny Dykstra’s son

Jan 29, 2013, 10:15 AM EDT

Calcaterra is busy writing about the latest steroid stuff, so I’ll tackle today’s truly important baseball news.

Lenny Dykstra’s son, 23-year-old minor leaguer Cutter Dykstra, is engaged to 31-year-old actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow Soprano on “The Sopranos.”

Dykstra has played five seasons in the minors without advancing past Single-A and spent last year playing for the Nationals’ low Single-A team. He was originally the Brewers’ second-round draft pick in 2008.

“People” magazine notes that Sigler was previously married to a guy named A.J. DiScala and has dated Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and “Entourage” actor Jerry Ferrera. So she has what I’d call interesting taste.

Congratulations to the happy couple. And may they forever bond over weird criminal fathers, both real and fictionalized.

They must be keeping him around on the A ball teams so he can buy beer for the guys who aren’t 21 yet or something.

      From “Turtle” to “Cutter”?

There’s a joke in there somewhere.

God I wish they would bring the Soprano’s back.

Agreed. Anything to lose the taste of that final episode…fade to black.

      • mjames1229 - Jan 29, 2013 at 11:11 AM

        There was no fade whatsoever…

It’s a celebrity marrying a guy named Cutter who is the son of a lunatic criminal. How can it go wrong?

  4. hushbrother - Jan 29, 2013 at 10:36 AM

Tony would be happy because at least he’s not black.

  5. csndrew - Jan 29, 2013 at 10:43 AM

They could make this into a movie – it’s a combination of “Meet the Parents” and “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest”

Ssssoooo Meadow Soprano is marrying a career single A ballplayer named Cutter? Must be nice to be a pro athlete’s son.

She’s not exactly burning up the motion pictures either. Since The Soprano’s ended, she’s been in Entourage, a few episodes of Ugly Betty, one of HIMYM and was a checkout girl in Lonely Island’s Jizz in my Pants video.

      • takavl - Jan 29, 2013 at 11:03 AM

She’s in the new Jimmy Fallon-produced NBC sitcom “Guys With Kids” as the wife of one of the main characters…hey, good cross-promo! LOL

      • rayswhitesuit - Jan 29, 2013 at 12:57 PM

And by the time she was in Entourage, she actually played herself as someone who would not only date an idiot stoner like Turtle, but would give him head on a commercial flight. That is one career plummet.

There’s something wrong with this girl. And this won’t last long but it will end in a nuclear catastrophe.

    • mogogo1 - Jan 29, 2013 at 5:15 PM

I’d put the odds at 50-50 they implode before the wedding even happens.

  8. vanmorrissey - Jan 29, 2013 at 11:56 AM

Odds it lasts longer than the KK-Chris Humphries?

  9. cosanostra71 - Jan 29, 2013 at 12:10 PM

    Lucky man.

  10. mazblast - Jan 29, 2013 at 12:16 PM

She’s a has-been who wasn’t that much when she was a somebody, a second-tier character on a top-tier show. He’s a never-will-be who, like Mattingly’s kid, is proof that major league ability is not necessarily a genetic thing.

    Two thoughts….

    1) I’m pretty sure she was married to a guy in his 50s when she was like 20

    2) Cutter may be the dumbest name I have ever heard.

You should see his brothers Curve and Slider, and their sister Split-Finger.

      • purnellmeagrejr - Jan 29, 2013 at 2:27 PM

That alllowed Lennny to say, “I never hit my kids.”

      • tfbuckfutter - Jan 29, 2013 at 4:04 PM

Naming the girl Split-Finger made me laugh.

  12. Stiller43 - Jan 29, 2013 at 1:00 PM

Wow. Musta been weird when she had to buy him beer when they started dating.

  13. hushbrother - Jan 29, 2013 at 2:39 PM

I thought Jamie-Lynn actually did a great job playing Meadow (or as Furio called her, “Maedo.”) She and Robert Iler were well cast as Tony’s bratty kids.

    • joecool16280 - Jan 29, 2013 at 2:53 PM

If you mean that Robert Iler was good at playing an annoying little brat then yes.

  14. mogogo1 - Jan 29, 2013 at 5:19 PM

Never making it out of A-ball still beats the heck out of being convicted of fraud and being sent to prison, which would have been the end result had he tried to emulate his dad’s other career. Pretty hard to hit on the Hollywood hotties from a prison cell.

    She’s no Alyssa Milano.
