Diamondbacks prospect Adam Eaton weighs in on Ray Lewis

Jan 30, 2013, 1:48 PM EDT

Adam Eaton is one of the best prospects in baseball and the 23-year-old Diamondbacks center fielder had an amusing tweet about the Super Bowl media’s interaction with Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis:

That’s a much funnier, more sarcastic version of what I asked yesterday, so of course I enjoyed it.

Also: ProFootballTalk notes that Lewis blamed the devil when asked about the allegations Eaton mentioned. Seriously. If only Alex Rodriguez had thought of that.

I love that nobody in the media is questioning the fact that, if true, the steroid distributor sat on this story for six months and is just now releasing it.

    • albertmn - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:23 PM

I don’t understand why the distributor would name names. Even if they are in trouble for moving the stuff, unless it is to avoid jail time, this will ruin that business. Who in their right mind would ever buy anything even slightly questionable from that company again, if you know they will throw your name out to the public at the slightest provocation?

I actually think there advertising not to major sports players, who would have steered clear of them regardless, but to every day people. The college player maybe. But just people who want their recovery from whatever to take significantly less time than it would otherwise.

If you can’t trust the journalistic ethics of a steroid distributor, who can you trust?

Hey, at least the guy wasn’t drinking deer urine or anything, right?

But here is where I tend to say something about Adam Eaton being such a waste of money, since he essentially stole a World Series ring from the Phightins, and then somebody informs me that it’s not THAT Adam Eaton, and…

    • Francisco (FC) - Jan 30, 2013 at 2:22 PM

      Mr. Hair, let it go…

  3. cosanostra71 - Jan 30, 2013 at 2:17 PM

haha. I would love to see the reaction if Alex Rodriguez did that.

    • cur68 - Jan 30, 2013 at 2:33 PM

If he’d done that, even an elk would have been asked its opinion of how bad a person Alex Rodriguez was right now.

I wonder if Powdered Deer Penis is a banned PED. Steven Seagal found it pretty useful in The Glimmer Man.

    • Jason @ IIATMS - Jan 30, 2013 at 2:50 PM

‘cept he prefered the unpowdered version, lollypop-style.

I hate how these guys hide behind God. They blame the devil for everything. Hell, they are the devil. Don’t they see that.

    • apmn - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:09 PM

You never see Ray Lewis and the devil in the same room…

      • paperlions - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:18 PM

For the obvious reason, no one ever has.

      • kopy - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:48 PM

Pedro Gomez has never denied being the devil.

    • kopy - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:50 PM

You know what they say, “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was getting Ray Lewis to spray deer antler extract on his elbow.”

    • bigmeechy74 - Jan 30, 2013 at 4:15 PM

There is no “devil.” Is this 2013 or the middle ages?

      • Old Gator - Jan 30, 2013 at 7:07 PM

It’s not even the middle of 2013 yet.

  6. Lukehart80 - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:05 PM

Reminiscent of Kevin Pollak’s rant from “A Few Good Men:”

“I strenuously object?” Is that how it works? Hmm? “Objection.” “Overruled.” “Oh, no, no, no. No, I STRENUOUSLY object.” “Oh. Well, if you strenuously object then I should take some time to reconsider.”

  7. dangernearing - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:12 PM

Oh this is your baseball guy dumping on football routine? Grow up, its a huge issue in ALL SPORTS. Baseball guys/writers are so sensitive.

    • zzalapski - Jan 30, 2013 at 3:31 PM

There’s a legitimately substantial story amidst the puffery that is Super Bowl Media Day, and the press lets Ray Lewis get away with blaming the devil? That is as embarrassing as any undue genuflection Michael Young or Jack Morris has ever received.

      • unclemosesgreen - Jan 30, 2013 at 4:30 PM

Dear Mr. Z. – The University of Connecticut is working on a time machine to go back and sabotage the Ron Francis trade. I hope you enjoyed Pittsburgh. Sincerely, Pucky the Whale.

      • dangernearing - Jan 30, 2013 at 4:51 PM

Thats sounds like you’re passing the blame. And thats pretty juvenile. With your “….when Ray Lewis does it is ok but when …..” Oh please. Get over it live isnt fair.

  8. yahmule - Jan 30, 2013 at 5:10 PM

A fraud hiding behind his god. Man, you hardly ever see that.

  9. Old Gator - Jan 30, 2013 at 7:09 PM

    But has he got….grit?

    • chacochicken - Jan 30, 2013 at 11:44 PM

Ray is so troubling in that he seems to be an “explosive” player, although not so much in his elder years but also seems to possess, ah, well…grit. Now I can totally buy that HIS grit was performance-enhanced by deer or moose or whatever.
