Absolutely 6. Same thing happend with Adam Wainwright (more or less).
The consistency just wasnt their initially. Which I attribute to conditioning more than anything. Dudes can’t possibly expect to have the leg strength after the long layoff that accompanies TJ surgery.

What I remember from when Zimmermann and Strasburg came back is that pretty much every other start was poor for them. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same from Beachy. Because of that, he’ll probably be under strict pitch limits, at least initially.

Some put no stock in it, but look at that picture: the dreaded inverted W, elbows above the shoulders.

Hope like heck this kid comes back and dazzles once again, but some pitching mechanic needs to help him retool that delivery to reduce that stress on elbows and shoulders.

Totally agree. Even though the timing of the injury and return were different, Kris Medlen is a good recent example of how the Braves handle TJ rehab. Would expect that Beachy wouldn’t start any games until after the all-star break at a minimum.

If you look at recent TJ guys, even if they come back after 12 months, it’s still another 3 months before their command and endurance are restored. And for young pitchers the thinking now is to limit their workload for the following 12 months.

So Beachy may return in June or July, but fans should only expect that the Braves will be very careful with him for the rest of the season.
