According to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports, the Orioles are expected to announce the signings of Jair Jurrjens and Mark Hendrickson next week.

Jurrjens agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Orioles last week and could earn an additional $2.5 million with incentives. However, the deal has yet to be finalized because he needs to complete a physical.

As for Hendrickson, he’s getting a minor league deal with a spring training invite. The 38-year-old left-hander didn’t pitch professionally last season, but he’s hoping to make a comeback with a new sidearm delivery.

Despite the addition of Jurrjens, Kubatko hears that the Orioles still haven’t ruled out bringing back free agent left-hander Joe Saunders. It’s worth noting that Jurrjens has options remaining, so the Orioles could have him begin the season with Triple-A Norfolk.

If Jurrjens pitches like hes capable of, its a steal. Too bad he usually doesnt.

Why don’t HBT and PFT link to player profiles on a site that aren’t terrible?

Rotoworld is the worst. Half of their football profiles don’t even list career stats. I think it may be all defensive players. No stats.

It’s ridiculous. I’m also pretty sure most people would rather see career stats on the main profile page than projected fantasy rankings.

To answer your question, rotoworld and HBT and PFT are all under MSNBC. So not that your wrong in your complaints, but thats why they always link them.

        I understand that.

But why not link to, say, NBC Sports profiles? http://scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/mlb/playerstats.asp?id=7163&fn=Miguel&ln=Cabrera

This is not Rotoworld, which exists only to provide fantasy information as far as I can tell.

Someone should tell Peter Angelos and his “baseball people” that they don’t have to be bottom feeders after last season’s success. Mark Hendrickson??? The guy was never more than sub-adequate in his “good” years.

Signing Jurrjens for 1.5 is a stroke of genius. Jurrjens is arb eligible for what, 2 more years ?? Get him on the farm getting healthy & working with Rick Peterson & this could end up huge for them

Stroke of genius? His fastball is down 5-7mph and just gets pounded. JJ is done as a legit ML starter. I can’t even imagine what the AL East will do to him.

The price seems right, why not take a chance on these two.

“However, the deal has yet to be finalized because”

the weather is really nice in Curacao this time of year.

I hope Jurrjens gets back to form, and thows like he can. I hated it when the Tigers traded him away to Atlanta for Renteria, who did absolutely nothing in Detroit. I ejoyed watching him in the minors with the West Michigan Whitecaps. All the best to them both.
