Can’t recall the last time I hung on every nuance of a minor league contract negotiation like this one. Slow news day, almost as bad as December 6, 1941.

…and he can be the most maddening, most hopeless POS pitcher with an “electric” arm. To indulge in a well-worn cliche, million-dollar arm, five-cent head.

As a Pirates fan, what worries me is the idea that they’ll give too many spring training innings to this guy at the expense of someone who’s worthy and potentially productive. And when you toot for the Pirates, as I have since the 1960s, you have enough things to worry about already.

C’mon, guys. I’m not asking for the playoffs, just 82 wins.

To be fair, “Slingin’ Johnny” Sanchez has electric stuff. As a Giant, his issues seemed mostly to be from the neck up. If he is over the tendinitis, he can be a very solid 4 or 5 starter, with maddening flashes of brilliance…
