Why is this even a story? the first reports stated that all indications were that his name did not appear in sections containing information about PED purchases. So he used before and got away with it. nothing indicates that he did again. just another filler story written by a hack to stir up shit.

You’re right, it was a Saturday.

But it doesn’t change the fact that the tech violated a contract between MLB and players. I know if someone who worked for me did something that dumb I would have fired him too.

(And for the record, you may want to brush up on your reading comprehension because I never said anything about the quality of the sample being better if it was brought to Fed Ex.)

The test was taken on a Saturday afternoon if I remember correctly and not Friday. Fedex is not well known for service on weekends. Also, you mght want to brush up on your high school chemistry if you believe the sample sitting at a Fedex location until Monday would have been any better than where the guy stored it. Braun and his reps ruined a guys name to save himself.

Personally, I think that MLB should just contract with labs in every city where there is a team instead of sending every sample to Montreal. Not exactly like there are MLB teams in podunk towns where no labs exist or maybe it was an agreement to provide a few extra jobs to Montreal for allowing their team to be stolen.

Are you going to EXPEL ALL players who doctor the ball? If not, why are PEDs worse than doctoring the ball. Cheating is cheating, right? Can you honestly say PEDs work better than doctoring the ball?

If you want a zero tolerance of cheating what about players that act like they were hit by a pitch but werent? Do they get EXPELLED as well?

Anything that shines a light on Ryan Braun after the way he threw a Joe Blue-Collar testing agent under the bus just to save his own butt – I’m all for it.

Anybody who knows anything about the chemistry of urine samples and what they were testing for knows those samples are bullet-proof, there is no way to affect or change them by being cold, cool or room temp and no easy way to doctor them. Braun just just used a loop hole to flush an honest guy’s career and skate free.

With all do respect, this is a load of crap. Braun didn’t wreck anyone’s career.

The tech did that himself after he decided to keep Braun’s urine is his refrigerator over the weekend because he was too tired on Friday afternoon to drive to UPS. The fact is who is that lazy/incompetent should have been fired.

Dino Laurenzi was Braun’s urine sample collector – I had to look it up. Think about it – Ryan Braun makes $115,000 a week….probably more money than Dino made in a year while he still had a career. And Braun trashed Dino so he could keep playing and make $164,000 a week in 2013 and more in 2014. Nice.

I love watching Braun play the game and I’ve been a Brewer’s fan since the ’70′s, but any player who does what he did……Dino deserved better.

I don’t like A-Rod, but I don’t want to see a double-standard here when it comes to Braun. Braun is an outted cheater who got by on what is definitely a technicality. Braun’s suspension being overturned flows under same rationale in the admissibility of blood/urine samples in DWI-related crimes not being obtained within 2 hours of the person being placed in custody. There was absolutely no evidence that the actions of the specimen collector affected the testosterone levels in Braun’s urine. As a matter of fact, the guy took extra precautions to safeguard the sanctity of the process by putting some dude’s piss in his own, personal refrigerator (probably next to the ground beef). Braun is a cheat & a liar just like A-Rod & he deserves to be treated as the same. There are no plausible explanations as to why a professional athlete who plays in Wisconsin would only go to a supplement provider in Florida unless that player was receiving supplements that he could not obtain through other entities. He couldn’t get the supplements he wanted from other entities because the supplements he wanted are illegal and banned. I hope MLB comes down hard on this fraud. The only way I will have at least even the smallest bit of respect for Braun will be for him to come out & admit his wrongdoing. We all know that’s never going to happen. Braun held a spring training, lie-filled presser after his sham of an appeal was upheld, so he is going to grasp at straws again, lying to each & every single one of us, using the “out” that unlike A-Rod, his name was listed with a specific banned substance. Please save us the BS – I may have been born yesterday, but it was in the morning & I was up all night.

Your comment made me wonder about the racial/cultural breakdown of major leaguers suspended by MLB–specifically “if he were black” so I analyzed Baseball Almanac’s list of players suspended. To no surprise, the overwhelming number of those suspended are of Hispanic heritage, but black players were suspended fewer times than white players. Since 2005, when MLB first started suspensions, a total of 37 major leaguers have been suspended, for a total of 39 suspensions (two players were suspended twice).

The racial breakdown of the 37 players:
Black — 4
White — 7
Hispanic — 25
Asian — 1

Of those 25 Hispanic players:
Dominican Republic — 14
Venezuela — 4
Cuba — 3
US — 2
Panama — 1
Puerto Rico — 1

Conclusion: Like COPO said, the ease of PED accessibility in Latin American countries coupled with crushing proverty and other socio-economic issues increase the likelihood of usage, which means they’re likelier to get caught and suspended. Also, I need a new hobby.

Amazing how this article has many facts missing. Like how Braun used the clinic as a consultant during his appeal and owed them payment for it, hence having his name in the paperwork. But hey, when has anyone ever waited for all the details of a story before passing judgment?

Braun was obviously guilty all along. Otherwise he would have released the arbitrator’s decision. No one had jurisdiction over him personally, preventing him doing so. So he prevailed on a hyper-technicality, not because there was actual favorable evidence on the merits.
