You’re either one of the reporters in question or one of those people who thrive on Jerry Springer etc. You use the term “straw man” while constructing some quite good ones yourself.

I read this site everyday. I’m pretty bored with the Biogenesis story, since its been in heavy rotation here, but I’ve read them all. At no point is Craig doing anything BUT asking reporters to apply reason and use the facts. The ones he mocks (and really, you guys friggin deserve it: you act like this is your first rodeo and its all SO EXCITING!) are the ones suggesting insurance fraud, drawing wild conclusions, ignoring fact for narrative, and generally behaving like you write for Geraldo Rivera.

I challenge you: go back and find where Calcaterra says reporters SHOULDN’T report this or SHOULD NOT come to some conclusion based on the available facts. Link it. Then I’ll join you in asking him what the hell he thinks he’s doing.

You’re clearly a “reporter”. Lets see you back up your words with fact.

BALCO, Bonds, Palmeiro’s finger, Clemens’ butt, Pettitte’s crying, ARod’s lying, Braun’s (non) denying… And you are surprised that we’re treating Bosch as a real live story? Come on. Reporters can’t reasonably report on it until–when?–the players admit it? Is that how it works? Honestly, Craig, you need to step back–way back–and realize that it’s ok to apply reason. It’s not a crime to use history and context to inform our understanding of this. It’s not farfetched to think that this story has legs and it’s not unreasonable to report on the facts–that these names were linked to a known PED peddler. More will come out, more will be known–and, really, no one is really suggesting otherwise (another of your infamous straw men). But right now you’re a thousand miles off the reservation on this one. You sound foolish and tone deaf.
