The Dodgers could be up 12-1 in the 8th inning and bring in Gregg for some mop-up duty, but the lead could be cut to 12-9 with 2 outs by the time Gregg is finally pulled.

Conversely, if the Dodgers were down 12-1 and Gregg is put in the game for a presumed loss, the blowout would be even worse, like say 19-1.

Nono, he WAS suited to be the closer. His teams were using their best relievers (i.e. not him) in the most important situations. Somebody had to pitch the ninth.

With Kevin Gregg as your closer, no need for your outfielders to sprain their shoulders flipping balls to the kids in the bleachers. The kids can just catch them coming off the opposing teams’ bats.

I saw that one of the teams hired Kevin Gregg as a coach, was thinking/hoping it was him and he retired. Oh well, good luck Dodgers lol

I really feel like he belongs in the Mets bullpen with Francisco and Lyon. Just think about all that gritty closing experience and be dismayed.
