In their never-ending quest to compile the most depth in baseball the Nationals have signed left-hander Will Ohman to a minor-league deal, according to Bill Ladson of MLB.com.

Ohman spent last season with the White Sox, posting a 6.41 ERA in 27 innings at age 34, but he was a solid middle reliever in 2010 and 2011 with a 3.78 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 95 total innings.

Washington’s bullpen is stacked with right-handers, but there could be an opening for Ohman as a left-handed specialist.

No need for the snark, Aaron.

Au contraire. As the illustrious Charles Lutwidge Dodgson has clearly demonstrated, snark is the important thing. Without snark, there is no foil for mere statistics.

Eh, it’s OK and doesn’t bother me in the least. It’s probably true. Remember the “cattle calls” of a few years ago????? Better this than that! Go, Nats. #UnfinishedBusiness.

Ohman pretty good vs. lefties. Career OPS+ of 80 vs. lefties, but OPS+ of 119 vs. righties (per baseballreference.com). If he’s not hurt, could be useful.
