Too bad Red Sox have to over pay players to go there. It’s not Carls fault they offered him 20 mill a year. To the Dodgers new owners it’s a non issue. I’ve been to Boston and the only black people there are on the Celtics. Carl and Gonzo were never happy playing there. They will produce for LA. Boston fans have bigger problems than players that are no longer on the team. Right now it looks like they are looking up at NY, O’s , and the Jay’s for a few years..Sox fans easily forget how much they had to pay and beg an injured Big Poppi to come back? Money is no issue for LA.

he is by far the LEAST valuable player in all of professional sports. He makes 20million a year to literally be good for nothing. Trout is the MOST valuable athlete in professional sports. He makes 900k to be arguably the leagues MVP

Hey losanginblind, if Boston is so racist how do you explain the love they have for the Celtics, almost no white player ever on the court yet the City and many other fans love them. Let’s face it my man Carl is a good player when healthy but for some reason his hurting ass always gets paid well.

105+ isn’t particularly above average.

In fact, it’s probably well within the bell curve of “average”.

For comparison, Shannon Stewart’s career OPS+ is 106 and I don’t ever remember people clamoring to sign him.

And you’re right, it’s not his fault the Theo (and the entire market) overvalued him….it IS his fault he was completely useless even before he started falling apart. 85+ his first year. Pathetic.

I agree he’s not worth $20 million. So did my Rays. It’s not his fault the Red Sox went nuts and grossly overpaid him based on a career year. However, a 105 OPS+ still makes him better than average and thus does not even “kinda suck.” Now, it’s quite possible his new reality will not be as an above average player due to his injuries the past couple years, but that remains to be seen.

Umm….Carl Crawford did when they paid him a crap ton of money and then he immediately forgot how to play baseball and then he started falling apart.

And raysfan, and OPS+ of 105 does KINDA suck…..at least when you’re paying someone $20 million a year and he doesn’t steal bases anymore.

Hey guys let’s not forget this also gave us a reason to get rid of JAMES LONEY which was an upgrade by having him leave! Anything gonzo has done is more than loney. With crawford all we can do is hope! But to me he is what we have to pay for in order to get gonzo and beckett. I’m Ok with that.

Dodgers fans are going to be very disappointed in what all that $$ looks like on the field. Kershaw and Greinke will get them 2nd place in NL West but I’m feeling like that’s their ceiling.
