Josh Hamilton has a new team and a $125 million contract AND he’s the newest addition to the ever-expanding “Best Shape of His Life” roster.

Mike Giovanna of the Los Angeles Times writes that Hamilton spent the offseason “juicing” fruits and vegetables on the way to losing 20-25 pounds. At 6-foot-4 he now weighs 225, compared to 245-255 at the start of last season for the Rangers.

If nothing else the BSOHL lineup now has a cleanup hitter.

Jesus, look at that rotation. with the exception of CC its pretty weak.

I guess the DH thing for Howard is supposed to be a joke, but was he ever declared BSOHL this off season? If so, I missed it

      • number42is1 - Feb 12, 2013 at 4:17 PM

I was thinking that too, but technically he would be DH more often than previous years due to the new scheduling

      • kopy - Feb 12, 2013 at 4:39 PM

He was declared BSOHL. I added “DH” to his position to troll people, but you’re the first person to notice. I’ll probably just take it off next time around, or add it to Pujols too.

      • DelawarePhilliesFan - Feb 12, 2013 at 7:41 PM

Nah, DH is good – as 42 pointed out, everyone can DH these days. Didn’t even think of that

who are the doctors that are issuing all these BSOHL prognosis? Do they work for BALCO or the Biogenesis clinic??

Apparently losing weight is another way of saying “I’m in the best shape of my life.” Congratulations, we’ve successfully killed this meme.

We hear that a player is in the best shape of his life about 3 times a week..

  6. unclemosesgreen - Feb 12, 2013 at 3:21 PM

It’s refreshing to see a player just come right out and admit that they’re juicing.

  7. 4cornersfan - Feb 12, 2013 at 3:22 PM

OK?! OK?! OK?! (Leo Getz impression). Pitchers and catchers time. Right? Right? Is this, can this be, the final BSOHL of the season? OK?! OK?!

  8. djpostl - Feb 12, 2013 at 3:25 PM

Dude probably bought a juicer on sale and then went apeshit due to the OCD/addictive personality he has…

Lance Lynn, Homer Bailey and Javier Vazquez might not be Cy Young Award winners but I wouldn’t call those three weak behind Sabathia.

This site has gotten so sh!tty.

Is this a reference to drinking too much juice? I also am a little concerned whether Hamilton is getting enough fiber…

I understand and applaud a player who evaluates himself and determines to take a positive action(lose weight, private coaching, getting in BSOHL etc….)but it would be nice to hear someone acknowledge that perhaps they actually were at less than their best when having reacted defensively to being critiqued by their (old) team and fans .

As long as Hamilton stays off the demon caffeine, he should be all right.
