that’s even funnier because carp is a really, really lousy outfielder. i am sure he is a nice guy, but i am not sorry that i don’t have to watch him anymore.

I always liked Carp, and this will probably turn out to be a blessing for his career. Based on past Mariner’s personnel moves, I bet Carp will end up playing somewhere and hitting 30 HR’s while Morse will flame out and end up on the bench because of his inept defense. I don’t understand why they DFA’d Carp, who has shown he can hit when healthy, and kept whiff machines like Carlos Pequero and Eric Thames.

I loved Jack Z at the start. Things like the Cliff Lee trade were brilliant. But I just cant do it anymore. He needs 81 wins to save his job. Mike Carp showed flashes of real talent at the end of 2011, but had 2012 derailed by injuries. Smoak couldn’t hit of a tee last season, but we’re keeping him? Jason Bay? C’mon man.

Carp is not going to devolop into a clutch player. He is fun to root for and a decent guy, but you can’t win or make money employing a guy you can’t promote. Hey, he has a lifetime of memories.

In some universe it makes sense to sign Jason Bay and cut Mike Carp….
But not in this universe.
