Of course, every player that makes it to full season ball knows how to play the game the right way. Mostly, it seems like people mean that the guy looks like he tries hard, which is nice, but if you have to try hard and you still are not good….I’m not sure how that contributes to winning baseball games.

Players that are horrible at baseball don’t contribute to organizational depth or a decent bench. No, this signing doesn’t hurt anything (assuming he doesn’t make the team), but if Inge is your best option at any position, then you probably are not a competitive team.

Inge is an irrelevant signing, there is no way it is a good signing. He really can’t play multiple positions. He can play a decent 3B and that is it and he can’t hit a lick. He has a career OBP of .303 and has been far worse than that for the last 2 years. No risk, no reward, just a waste of a roster spot if he winds on the 40-man.

The Tigers finally released him last year after he hurt his groin hitting .180. He went to the A’s and couldn’t finish the season — after hitting worse than the guys they already had on their roster. He’ll probably end up on the DL again this year — but even if he doesn’t, take your pick for why I hate him: 2 errors on 1 play in the World Series, sometime leader in errors, and inconsistent batting performance. He probably won’t be able to play much and when he does, it will be hit and miss (more miss). If they just want to fill their minor league team, okay, but don’t hope for more than that. If you have to call him up, you are hurting.
