People, people, people. Know the laws before you write about what you “think” should happen. Research how/why the laws have been set up as they have. The regular guy does have options instead of drinking and driving. Cab, hotel, heck in my nape of the woods there’s even “Angel ride” that will give you and your car a “free” ride home.

.08 is something that was paid for with millions of dollars “donated” to various politicians, not based on extensive laboratory research. Judges are elected officials who receive campaign donations.

I don’t think it is in anyone’s best interest to criticize someone for having a DUI if you don’t know the circumstances or facts of the case. To arbitrarily say, “someone has a DUI therefore I think they are a piece of crap or they have 2 DUI’s they need to be in jail for (x) number of years in a hard labor camp” is incredibly obtuse, in my opinion.

Someone w/more than one during a short window of time should be sent to counseling not jail. Unless it is aggravated, then jail is correct. And I don’t think that you can say, “he has (x) amount of dollars, so he needs to pay more.”

He received his punishment, we should all move along. Hopefully, he’s learned something and it will stop him from putting himself in that position again. One other thing: if you talk on your cellphone, text, or check emails, eat lunch, comb your hair, fix your makeup or shave….you are just as guilty of driving while impaired….and you’re the one’s who keep screwing up my commute every damn day!

a. If you can afford to drink and if you can afford to own a car, you can also afford either public or private transportation to get home.

b. Your comments are more directed towards our legal system than individuals.

c. Grace did not hurt anyone but himself. But yes he could of. I deal in the here and now and not “what ifs”

I don’t tolerate or condone drunk driving either, but I recognize it happens all the time in our society. And it’s us fans that MAKE THE RICH SPOILED ATHLETE. So if you don’t like the salaries don’t participate.

Mark Grace was indicted on four felony counts of DUI. Dude isnt a first time offender. Most first-time offenders dont get jail time, but work releases stuff. If you’re caught as often as he is and skirting the sanctions he agreed to, you should do real time.

Grace, a Scottsdale resident, was arrested about 9 p.m. Aug. 23 after he was pulled over while driving near 7200 E. McCormick Parkway in Scottsdale.

Blood tests showed he had a blood-alcohol content of .095, which is above the legal limit of .08, said Scottsdale Police Officer David Pubins.

Grace also was arrested May 30, 2011, and subsequently his license was suspended and he was required to have an interlock device in his vehicle, police said.

Jesus y’all act like DUI is a capital offense it common as fuck. They sentence based on potential harm you may have caused not if you did crash or not. All these people hating and suggest federal prison for a secon DUI. Feds ain’t touches no stupid ass charge like that. I been to federal prison. First time offense of Aggrivated DUI in AZ is mandatory 4months state prison at a DUI low security camp. No doubt Grace had a DAMB good lawyer and got the set he deserved no more no less. Anyone talking about how easy it is at tent city or any jail in Maricopa county clearly never did any time there. Voters who just think lock um up build more jails he ran over my flower bed..shut the fuck up lames. Nobody cares what y’all think your boy a judge just a hypocritical drinker who has probably drove drunk yourself.

He’s not getting preferential treatment from the penal system. Many people in jail for DUi get work release privledges. It isnt just Mark Grace getting a cushy deal.

The sentence seems fair to me. I agree that the Diamondbacks giving him a cushy job sucks. However, I don’t have an issue that they gave him a job just that job.

Wouldn’t we all like our employer to stand by us? Couldn’t the Diamondbacks put him in a more menial position that sends a message to the younger guys in the organization but doesn’t humiliate him in their eyes?

Nobody’s perfect, but in the “real world” somebody who gets 2 DUIs is punished a little more than what’s currently happening to “Gracie”. That’s my only beef here. I have ZERO tolerance for people who get DUIs. And I absolutely DESPISE rich, spoiled athletes who have all the resources in the world and yet still choose to drink and drive. I’m sorry, but you can take your compassion and save it for people who truly deserve it. Not a rich, spoiled ex-athlete who has enough money to hire a driver whenever he wants to go out and get loaded but has neither the courtesy nor the brain-power to do so.

DUI is a very serious offense, and I don’t mean to diminish the lives it wrecks, but this post is a little off the mark to me. Being incarcerated, even at night in tents while spending the day on work release, is a real punishment. While I don’t have a lot of pity for Grace, I wouldn’t say that he isn’t getting what he deserves, especially in light of the facts that (1) he probably lost his license for a long, long time and (2) his imprisonment is national news (3) he’ll spend a few months sleeping in jail, and (4) he lost his job on account of his actions. All just punishments and well deserved. I don’t have to see him spend 24 hours a day in a jail cell to feel that justice has been served.

Ludicrous!!! He got not one but two DUIs. And did you ever think the reason baseball players committ DUI at a lower rate than the American public is because baseball players not only usually have the money for a cab, but there is also a service in place for them to call a # and get picked up anytime anywhere with no questions asked. Does the “American public” have access to that service?

How do you know that if you took the silver spoon out of this guys mouth and made him serve 4 months of hard time(maybe some “pound you in the ass Federal Time!!!”) that it wouldn’t wake him up to the dangers of getting loaded and getting behind the wheel of a car?

You “like Gracie” and had “beers with him on Rush Street when he was with the Cubs”. Whoopdie frigging Doo. Did he drive home that night too?

Dude has a problem, obviously. Is this punishment going to solve that problem? No. Would 4 months doing harder time solve that problem? No.
Until Grace figures it out on his own, he will be toeing that line between what is acceptible and what isn’t… but that doesn’t mean we need to send him to Siberia or wherever else. I like Gracey. We’ve had beers on Rush St. when he was with the Cubs; he’s a good announcer and a colorful baseball personality.
In this current environment of PEDs, lying and cheating, how does this show up on the meter? Not very high at all.
Unless you are going to start posting follow up stories about Carlton Fisk, Todd Helton, Miggy, etc…. let’s lay off this guy.

Look I’m born and raised in AZ. Did 6 months tent city and four of those were on the work release side. I did 4.5 years in prison for my first DUI however it was and Aggravated DUI and my criminal history record was long as priors go. Grace don’t have any real record to speak of so that sentence is about right. He did get fired as an announcer he was bout in on an camp advisor or some shit.
