Trevor Cahill is in The Best Shape of His (adult) Life

Trevor Cahill told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic that he’s lost 10-15 pounds because he wasn’t happy with his defense and athleticism last year. Nick is hip to the BSHOL club and he’s a good reporter, so he asked the question that had to be asked:

Does this mean he’s a member of the Best Shape of His Life club?

“I was maybe in better shape when I was 16,” Cahill said.

How about Best Shape of His Adult Life?

“Yeah,” he said. “I’m still not an adult, though.”

That’s well and good, but Cahill is an Arizona Diamondback. More important than his conditioning is his GF (grit factor). Gotta know where that stands before I can do an accurate prediction of how his season is gonna go.

I am sure that he did not eat any grits in order to lose that weight.

For Cahill GF used to be his “gut factor.” Good thing he lost some weight, when you’re a 25 year old professional athlete, spare tire is just not a good look.

      When you’re a 25 anything, it’s not good.

I read somewhere that Trevor Kahill will be AZ best pitcher this year cause his track record and style of pitching. Funny I bet Brandon McCarthy has the best year with Ian Kennedy close second.

    Cahill sorry

The A’s strength and conditioning was never as good as it should have been. Look at pictures of Cahill and Anderson as A’s and you could have had the poster for “Fast Food Nation”.

Would love to see a statistical analysis of how prior year BSHOL members did relative to expectations.
