Feb 15, 2013, 3:45 PM EDT

Marlon Byrd was suspended 50 games for a performance-enhancing drug last season and is now trying to make the Mets on a minor-league deal. Today he met the media:

Great signing for the Mets. Should really fit in well.

Pay attention to your geriatric wonders.

So is he an idiot because he used drugs or is he an idiot because everyone is doing drugs but only the idiots are getting caught? Certainly sounds like he is saying the latter.

I think it’s continuing to do business with Victor Conte and not questioning what is in the supplements he was purchasing.

Of course he is saying the latter.

Good answer. No need for him to say more either.

Idiot status entitles him to membership in the Wilpon family.

Didn’t we already have the Quote of the Day today (Luccino and the “scrappy” Red Sox) or does each blotter on the site get one?

  6. tfbuckfutter - Feb 15, 2013 at 4:54 PM

Did he also acknowledge that he’s terrible at his profession?

    • tfbuckfutter - Feb 15, 2013 at 6:39 PM

      Seriously?

      3 thumbs down?

3 people think Marlon Byrd and his -37 OPS+ for the Cubs last year ISN’T terrible at baseball?

      Ok.

  7. mscxvd - Feb 15, 2013 at 11:11 PM

why is it that they always talk about being dumb for testing positive? shouldnt he say he was an idiot for doing them in the first place? not just that he got caught
