I have yet to see anyone explain why the WBC would pose a bigger injury risk than spring training. Especially for position players.

It seems like WBC thing is quickly becoming a joke amongst big leaguers. These guys are at the top of their professon. Why risk injury and time away from your employer for a tournament that very few people care about? I wish Texeira would opt out.

I’m sure Cervelli sees this as a golden opportunity to make the 25 man Yankee roster. And not being in camp would have given both Stewart and Romine a head start are winning the job. Smart decision on his part to bypass the WBC.
