The title makes it sound as if "The Blue Jays (told) Adam Lind to stop badmouthing the old boss."

Sure, Anthopoulos called him on the specific remarks, but that headline is inaccurate at best, and really, completely misleading. I clicked it because I thought "The Blue Jays (told) Adam Lind to stop badmouthing the old boss," but no. Give the headline writer a promotion, I'm sure it added some page views as this wasn't in the news anywhere else, because, you know, it didn't happen.

"Always a good rule to not air your grievances publicly."

I agree. I mean, it's not even Festivus! So no airing of grievances.

Seriously though, the only person Lind has to blame for his lack of success the past 3 years is himself. And he can criticize the guy who told him to be patient last year all he wants, but the irony is that he had his best BB% and his lowest swing % during his career year of 09.

Keep thinking your problem is that you're being too aggressive, Lind. And while you think that's your problem, I'll sit back and watch you flail away and end up with another replacement level season.

PC has it right. Farrell was fixing something that wasn't broken. That being said, Lind needs to live in the present and move on to doing what Gibbons wants and seeing to it that Gibbons is aware of what Adam's strengths are.

I find the AA comment a bit baffling, though. Usually he keeps this stuff out of the media. Its no way to manage a team.

Lind was close to his previous manager, Cito Gaston, and had his best years following Gaston's advice of see ball, hit ball.
This makes Lind sound like he doesn't understand what a sound hitting approach is....most teams want hitters to be selective, but aggressive in the zone. In short, they want hitters to be selective enough to make pitchers throw strikes and then for the hitters to be aggressive when they see a pitch they can drive. Being aggressive for the sake of being aggressive is a horrible approach at the plate and a fantastic way to get yourself out without ever seeing a pitch you can do anything with.

FWIW, over the last 4 years, the Red Sox have walked one more time than the Blue Jays every 142 PAs (about 1 walk every 4 games).

No, he exposed an organization that had a bad year last year and a manager who was a poor enough fit that when he wanted to leave town, they were happy to let him. Aside from exposing himself as a whiner, it's hard to see what heuristic value Lind's simpering has for looking at this year's team.

It sounds like not only does he have a valid point but he's exposed a pholosophical rift throughout the organization.

If the organization is teaching a certain type hitting philosophy up the chain throughout the minors then switches to an entirely different hitting philosophy (Boston's) when you finally get to the majors it appears not everyone is on the same page up & down throughout the organization and that's something they need to fix.

Boston's hitting philosophy preaches more plate discipline... take more pitches, run up the pitcher's count, get past the starter, get into the bullpen, etc. If the kid was taught to "hit away" and now he's being asked to take pitches it's not that easy. It takes guys hundreds of minor league AB's before they feel comfortable doing it and some guys never adapt.

The boss is the boss so if he wants you to piss on a spark plug you do, but the kid did expose what appears to be an organization not on the same page throughout.

Aside from the fact that is, like Craig said, about Farrell calling him out and the team sending him down last year, his point seems nonsensical to me. He came up under one regime that taught him to hit one way. When Farrell got there, he taught the team to hit another way. I'm pretty sure that if you have a new boss, you probably should do what he wants, and not what your old boss would have wanted.
