Cardinals right-hander Shelby Miller, who yesterday was named MLB’s sixth-best prospect by Baseball America, was scratched from his throwing session today due to shoulder soreness.

Manager Mike Matheny told Jenifer Langosch of that the Cardinals “are not too concerned” and called the move “more preventative right now.”

Miller made his big-league debut in September with 14 very impressive innings and is in the mix to replace Kyle Lohse in the Cardinals’ rotation

Can I use this excuse to get out of going to work?

Ahh Gleeman, y’all are killing me with these two stories on hurting Cards so close together!

You can never have enough pitching. Kyle Lohse just gained a little leverage with the Cards. Lock him up for 1 year. The track record says that Jaime Garcia and Jake Westbrook won’t make it through the season and what if Lance Lynn starts eating at Hardee’s again. And what happens if another pitcher gets injured? Sign Waino and reup Lohse. At least the Redbirds will be relevant for years to come when the young guns arrive. Speaking of young guns arriving how in the world does Carlos Martinez not have his visa already. He’s known for at least two months that he was invited to spring training.
