How about releasing him because he’s a sucky pitcher? His incompetence at holding late inning leads was a big reason for the Red Sox’ lousy season.

That’s really interesting. I had thought that the only way the contract was non-guaranteed was if it went all the way through the hearing process.

I’m willing to sell the Sox a pitching machine I built at home from old lawn mower parts and a couple of scrap Macs. I does talk back and uses the occasional racial slur but I’d let it go for 900,000. Probably less of a pain than Aceves but it does weigh like 7 bills.

If they’re not sure they can get a handle on him they seriously need to do this. He was a rockstar vulture/setup man/long man in 2011, but he’s been a ticking tantrum-bomb since, and if there’s one thing Boston doesn’t need right now it’s a guy like that in the clubhouse.
