Since this site has become MarriageTalk today I might as well do a post about this story too.

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado got engaged to a woman named Yainee Alonso, who happens to be the sister of Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso.

Machado and Alonso both went to high school in Miami and Peter Schmuck of the Baltimore Sun writes that Machado and Alonso’s sister “were brought together by the baseball connection with her brother, but it’s also the result of the close-knit nature of the sports community in Miami.”

Sure, but do they follow each other on Twitter?

“The close-knit nature of the sports community in Miami”. Seems like it is easy to get hooked up down there. If you are not into PEDs, you can still benefit by getting hooked up with your future wife.

“close-knit nature of the sports community in Miami”…Manny has also been known to train with ARod.

Let’s all hope his name doesn’t pop up. Kid is a great talent, would hate to see/hear “Machado, who was connected to the PED use in the biogenesis scandal of 2013,” for the rest of his career.

        Alonso also trains with A-Rod.

As the article correctly points out, Miami athletes are a relatively close-knit group. Jon Jay is also from Miami and trains with Machado…I’ve never seen a reference of him working with ARod.

all I know is that this past year, during the NYY-BAL games, there was plenty of talk of how good this kid is and how he trains/worksout/whatever with ARod. hopefully he learn from Arod’s mistakes.

It’s sad when a random story about a baseball linked marriage still brings up talks of PED in the comments.

I hope the O’s sign their first born son the instant he escapes Mama’s womb

Manny, with as well as you play the field, perhaps you should — you know — play the field a little bit?

In all seriousness, I see little point in getting married so young, especially as a male of high status. Jeter plays the game “the right way.”
