I’ve taken to trying to avoid as many steroid articles around here as possible because I find it obnoxious how one person could be so sanctimonious and obstinate simultaneously.

It would seem theres just as much evidence if not more for Braun having taken PEDs than Bonds. Both were linked to known distributers except Braun actually failed a test too.

Or…y’all could actually read all of Craig’s work on PEDs and see where he has said, EARLIER THIS WEEK that he thinks it’s clear Bonds did use steroids. Of course, then that would interfere with your own preconceived notions, so never mind.

If Lupica et al would spend their efforts on churning out thoughtful, well-written pieces, Craig would would cover those instead. But asking them to do that seems akin to asking Craig to abstain from Batman references for an extended period of time.

Well said, Zippy and Deadeye. Although it seems to me Craig applies the “innocent until proven guilty” card along with “beyond even an UNreasonable doubt” standard. It seems that anyone who attempts to draw any kind of inference from the evidence presented is to be demeaned as jumping the gun. BTW – reasonable doubt is for use in criminal trials; news consumers are allowed to use whatever standard they choose – even less than a preponderance of the evidence.

If you read this blog often you know that this is kind of Craig’s deal. He pretty much jumps on everything steroid related and plays the “innocent until proven guilty” card. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just don’t feel that is true when it comes to baseball. If we have learned anything the last decade with the MLB steroid scandal it’s that usually where there is smoke, there is fire.

I’m just curious do you need to actually see Braun injecting himself to believe the story? What about Bonds do you think he never took steroids either since he hasn’t failed a test or admitted it?

At what point can you just be a reasonable human being drawing a reasonable conclusion (ie failing a drug test, having it over turned because of a break down in the chain of custody, not over the high test results, and then having his name listed in the books of a known distributor as someone who received steroids) and not an obstinate child pretending everyone is as how you’d like them to be until admitting otherwise.

A not-so-minor quibble here. Lupica, et.al., are not reporters. They are commentators. Jumping to conclusions is what they do for a living. The ones like Lupica do so in a consequence-free environment. Just ask Jason Whitlock what happens when someone stands up to Lupica.
