Given that the first comment was about which one was a “loser franchise” I thought comparing franchise records was the least arbitrary comparison. In any case, no Phillies fan gets to call someone else’s team a “loser franchise” given Philadelphia’s history and not be called out on the facts.

That said, comparing lifetime records between a franchise that has been around since 1883 with a franchise that has been around since 1977 is ridiculous. At least pick a team that has been around within the same time frame if you’re going to compare life time records. Seattle, maybe? Both franchises were established in 1977.

That said, you can’t quote massively uneven lifetime percentages like that. The Phillies played 82 seasons before the MLB draft, and 93 seasons wihout free agency. The Blue Jays had zero such seasons If you count it since the Blue Jays entered the league, the Phillies are a good chunk ahead. If you want to give the Blue Jays 5 years to ramp up, they are even.
