Curtis Granderson plunked on forearm, getting X-rays

Yankees outfielder Curtis Granderson was hit on his right arm by a J.A. Happ pitch in the second inning of Sunday’s Grapefruit League game vs. the Blue Jays. Granderson appeared to be in pain and was immediately lifted, but the early word is good.

According to beat man Andy McCullough of the Newark Star-Ledger, Granderson has been diagnosed with a “bruised right forearm.” The Yankees sent him for X-rays to rule out any sort of fracture but are calling those tests “precautionary.”

We’ll provide further details as they’re released.

Granderson batted .232/.319/.492 with 43 home runs, 106 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 160 games last season for New York. The 31-year-old is expected to make the transition to left field this summer, allowing the speedier Brett Gardner to take over in center.

UPDATE, 3:17 PM: Granderson’s forearm is broken and he will be out for the next 10 weeks.
