So, did anyone watch the Oscars last night? They did something different this time in terms of the "wrap it up" playing people offstage thing. Instead of an orchestra swell, when a presenter was going on too long the theme from Jaws would slowly start creeping up. Da...dum. Daaa....dum Da....dum. Da dum da dum da dum da dum... And then if it got to the climax, it would crescendo, BAM!, and the mike would cut off automatically into dead silence. It was pretty cold blooded, and I imagine had to have rattled the people on stage hearing that Jaws theme creeping up on them as they overstayed their welcome.

Anyway, so about Adam Lind...

I was excited about this guy at Portland and Pawtucket and hoped he could crack in as the Sox' First Baseman of the Future. Alas, he was never given much of a chance to see any Major League pitching. I wonder if the Sox gave up on him a little too quickly, although at the time he was traded to Cleveland, Adrian Gonzalez was expected to occupy First Base for a long time.

Given the Sox current lack of First Base depth at the minor league level it would have been nice to see Cherington put in a claim for him. But it would be nice if he can finally catch on and prove to be an effective player, even if (sadly) it has to be with another organization. Perhaps Toronto will cut him and Boston can nab him again.
