Spring training is … Juan Uribe

This afternoon the Dodgers are playing their first televised game of the year against the Cubs. Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times notes that zero projected starters will be in the lineup, but that’s sort of underselling things a bit.

Juan Uribe, who’s hit .199 in two seasons for the Dodgers and may get released despite being owed $8 million, is starting at first base and batting cleanup. Seriously.

Just a little something to remember next time anyone tries to act like spring training games mean something.

I wish I was paid $8 million to be bad at my profession.

I forgot that guy was still playing. From his photo, he looks like Don Baylor….the coach, not the player.

Please continue forgetting. I’m sure Ned Colletti wishes he could….

They only mean something when your outfielder breaks a bone in his first at bat.

Using you reasoning (which I agree with), then why are some many players not allowed to represent their country in the World Baseball Classic?

Speaking of Spring training: Ryan Howard just got a base hit off a lefty…a Tigers Lefty, too. Of course it was wiped out with a GIDP, but what the hey…baseball and Ryan Howard hitting off a lefty: nice.

Aaaannnnd Miggy….HR. Ball bounced off the moon (wowie: over the Tiki Bar, fence and into the parking lot). Somebody might be in BSHOL.

Yikes! Someone has been stuffing in the fried chicken! Has Uribe been hanging out with Jon Lester, John Lackey and Josh Beckett??

This joke has aged more like a corpse than like a fine wine.

That must be a recent picture of Uribe. It looks like he’s lost some weight.
