Justin Masterson is the Indians Opening Day starter

That’s the report from Buster Olney. And That’s two years in a row for Masterson. Another ten or twelve of those and we’ll be arguing about his Hall of Fame case one day.

It’s a signal of some sort of tenure or continuity more than anything else, as Masterson is coming off a meh 2012. But the rotation is the Indians’ weakest link with the starters beyond Masterson being Ubaldo Jimenez, Brett Myers and “field.”

    Craig, you do admit that after the season Justin had in 2011 warranted an Opening Day start nod, correct? He had a 3.21 ERA, and was in every game he pitched for the most part. He can do that again, so enough the snipes, or else I will remind you that Rick Mahler was the Braves Opening Day Starter 4 times in his career.
