No doubt the Cards have a good mix going into this season of veterans, All Stars, and good young talent. It certainly took some of the sting off of losing the NLCS knowing that there was a solid core of players and new talent to compete for 2013. I remember thinking they probably shouldn't of even made it that far in the playoffs, but since they had, it's even better that the younger players are getting solid playoff experience It's also the reason why I don't care the Card's haven't been making waves in free agency. For one, great free agency/winter transactions don't equate to front running/playoff contending teams. And two, the Redbirds' didn't have to make big moves.

Can't wait for the season to start! Go Cards!

I enjoy watching kids develop as well, it's a kick.

That said, I've got zero problem using youngsters to go get proven major league talent either that makes sense to aquire.

Prospects are assets and should be used as such whether contributing to the Cards or helping the team to procure talent.

It's a crap shoot either way I suppose but always fun to discuss.

i'm excited about the 2013 cardinals but i'm REALLY excited for the 2014 cardinals and beyond. we are just going to be stacked with young talent, although we may lose a few good players if we want a solid ss for the future, but regardless watching these young kids grow up is going to be fun.

I don't get too giddy about prospects but I'm full on with Miller and Rosenthal.

If there's any Cards fans who don't subscribe to said giddyness, read this:

No a cardinals fan, but this kid has a lot of promise. I think it makes more sense to put him in the rotation as Rosenthal seems to be dominant in a bullpen role.
