What sucked about that is he had a GM who loved him and was willing to cut a lot of slack for nostalgia, a fan base that would have given him standing Os, a team riddled with injury in a season left for dead, and he was hitting well in a very hitter-friendly AAA league and park. I mean, you were just not going to find a better circumstance if you’re Vlad. I think he was just weeks if not days from a callup, but decided to get pissy about the specific date. And now he’ll probably never get a major league at-bat again.

I get that you don’t want to be jerked around, but it just struck me as a guy way overplaying a hand he didn’t have.
