Dan Uggla off to slow start

2012 was the worst season of Dan Uggla‘s career. He set career lows in home runs (19), batting average (.220), and slugging percentage (.384). If he hoped for sunnier days in 2013, he is starting off on the wrong foot. The Braves’ second baseman has just two hits and a whopping ten strikeouts in 18 spring at-bats.

Uggla says he isn’t worried. Via the AJC:

“I’ve never been one of those guys that starts off hot, in spring training especially,” he said. “There’s always an adjustment period—getting the timing, figuring out how to stand in the batter’s box again. (The at-bats) have been pretty bad, to say the least, but they are always bad in the first couple weeks of spring.”

Uggla did lead the league in walks with 94 last season and with the Braves’ lineup now stacked with talent, they are less reliant on him for power production. Still, both parties are hoping he can revert to his 2008-10 levels of production.

That’s not a slow start for Uggla. Compared to his other seasons with the Braves hes pretty much at mid-season form right now.

Of course he’s not worried he gets a boat load of money even if he cant improve and become bad at his job. Staying horrible just isnt that big of a deal for a guy like Uggla.

Dan Uggla works hard to get ready every season. He had a .784 OPS in April and a .874 OPS in May. Once again, the facts and completely opposite and contrary to your opinion. That’s certainly never stopped you from popping off and being negative about anyone and everyone.

Probably that disregard for reason and logic is what allows you to be a tea-bagger. I literally can’t remember agreeing with a single thing you’ve ever written. Why do you keep doing this?

I’ll be damned, you we’re making a good point too until you had to go and bring politics into baseball. Seriously, what’s wrong with you people? Save your politics until your next weekly blowhard meeting.

It’s an easy thing to figure out…he’s off the juice.

Or just a 2B on the wrong side of 30 turning into a pumpkin.

Go go struggla. I watched him with the marlins whenever they came into atlanta to play. He seems to be taking the same approach at the plate but it just is not working in the last couple years. He was good for 30 hrs a year and that made up for his throwing issues from second but if we get another year of 200-220avg and less than 30hrs i think his time in atlanta is done. I like dan and from what his teamates say he is working hard to correct himself, i know it is frustrating to watch so must be feeling terrible playing like he is. Pastornicky is already getting in some games at second and i saw him play a few innings in cf, so dan might be on a short leash this season.

It’s about par for his course

Leave it to the liberal to start spouting the hateful, vitriolic attacks. It’s as if these sheeple have contracted the disease of divisiveness from the usurper-in-chief. And I’d rather be a “tea-bagger” than a filthy occupy “trash-bagger, any day.

    • unclemosesgreen - Mar 3, 2013 at 1:19 AM

Leave it to a tea-bagger to make the choice – teabagger or occupier. I am an unaffiliated centrist who believes virtus in medeo sunt. I look down equally upon teabaggers and occupiers. The W wasn’t the anti-christ, and Obama isn’t from Kenya, or a “usurper in chief” or any of the other hateful, idiotic, disrespectful things youall like to call him.

Bill Maher is just as big a tool as Rush Limbaugh. OK? But when you spout extremist nonsense, I’m gonna throw a brushback pitch. That’s all.

Would you both STFU, you are both idiots.
