Giants haven’t closed door on Brian Wilson

Closer Brian Wilson, formerly of the San Francisco Giants, could return according to manager Bruce Bochy. ESPN’s Jim Bowden tweeted:

Bochy told us the Giants have not closed the door on Brian Wilson #SXM

Wilson managed only two innings last season before his season ended, requiring Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. Though the Giants went on to win the World Series without him, Wilson was instrumental in the Giants’ championship 2010 season, posting a 1.81 ERA with a league-best 48 saves. He did not allow a single run in 11.2 innings during post-season play.

In Wilson’s absence last year, the Giants got 25 saves out of Santiago Casilla and 14 out of Sergio Romo. Casilla was relied upon in the ninth through July, but the Giants relied more and more on Romo as the season rolled into August. He was the go-to guy in the post-season and will be the closer for the 2013 season. If the Giants were to bring Wilson back, he would likely satisfy a middle relief role.

Psssst, Bill. I know you’re probably afraid to mention the Tigers now for fear that those cretins (read: crumby cake lovers) will show up and act the fool again. I feel you. But, between you and me, I know you wanted to mention in there that if Wilson comes back strong, the Giants would likely face competition from the Tigers to bid for his services. It’s okay. We know this. You don’t have to say it so the others can hear. It’s cool.

    *Ahem* The eagle has landed.

And, in the likely scenario that they don’t get Wilson, Leyland can mend his broken heart and re-hire Valverde . . . just like he always wanted to do. Sometimes a dude’s gotta follow his heart….

Please stop scaring Bill. A shirtless V-Wiggles stalker is creepy, dude. This was his first weekend. Break him in slow.

Does this Leyland-Valverde romance thing ever remind you of some awful Turner movie channel remake of The Blue Angel? I do have some problems imagining Valverde in the Marlene Deitrich role, but Leyland works well in place of Emil Jennings. As for the sports connection, well, it says right here in IMDB that Jennings’ character taught in a…gymnasium….

And hey, would you “close the door” on Herman Melville? Who’s gonna read to your kids?

Every time I see that Godawful beard I vomit in mouth a little.

Really? And do you spit or swallow?

If there is one thing to take seriously about Brian Wilson, it’s the beard.
