Getty Images Cody Ross went for an MRI exam on his calf injury yesterday and the Diamondbacks announced that he’ll miss 2-3 weeks with a “lower left leg strain.”
I hope the lack of specificity isn’t an attempt to move toward NHL-style “lower” and “upper” body injuries, because … well, actually maybe that would be amusing for a little bit at least.
Anyway, he’ll apparently be allowed to hit and throw while not doing any running, but obviously Ross’ status for Opening Day is now in question.

Wow, I thought this guy was gritty. Gritty players generally will play through the pain. I’m sure Gibby and Towers have taken note and I fully expect the trade rumors to start heating up. Maybe Ken Kendrick will call Ross an enigma soon?

It not a major loss as its just spring ball plus Parra can start anyway.

To be on the safe side, I feel like Towers should overpay two more aging corner outfielders to multiple year deals. Got to keep the grit parts per million levels as high as possible.
