The Yankees are the storied franchise, of course. As a Red Wings fan, I get telling people to go cry in their milk about overspending to win championships….the difference is that the Red Wing fan base is a lot less arrogant and insulting and insipid. Not saying you are bro, as you don’t come off that way, just that there is a lot of ugliness and unrealism out of The Bronx Bomber fanbase…and others to be fair (Philly, I’m looking at you)

The Yankees are in a transition period in a lot of respects, accelerated by the fact they got old, hurt and average really fast…and if Steinbrenner is to believed, they can’t just throw crazy $ at the problem anymore…now $185MM is still going to outspend everyone but LA…but it’s not going to be the huge 2x-3x spend of other competitive franchises anymore…which I think is good for baseball.

He’s got a career 23 HR/600 PA, and while Yankee Stadium is the best ballpark for left-handed home runs, Arlington is the second-best park. He wouldn’t get that big of a boost. And once Teix and Granderson get back, where does he fit in? The Yankees already have an all-lefty outfield and a lefty DH. Further, I wouldn’t want to even consider a 1B/RF with a .328 career OBP unless he was a plus-plus defensive player, and there’s absolutely no evidence Moreland is capable of being that guy with the glove.

CF- slaphitting guy coming off most of last season being hurt
RF- some reallly old slaphitting dude who had a dead cat bounce 90 days w the Yanks last yr

SP4- he’s young, but he’s not so great…BUT HE’S YOUNG!

CL- 43 yr old coming off a torn acl/mcl
setup1- nice player
setup2- nice young lefty pen guy
setup3-fat hurt and stupid is no way to go through life son
