Logic and reason?? Are sure you know how things work around here?

This latest injury will likely get the Yankees off to a sluggish start but it's hardly the end of the world. I'd much rather the Yankees started the season with Granderson, Teixeira and A-Rod in the line up but it is what it is. All the Yankees need do is avoid tanking the first month and a half then it's game on. The Yankees might well start the second half of the season the freshest in baseball too. Regardless, the playoffs don't start on June 1at, it's 162 game season.

Carlos lee isn't going to do any good for anyone. The Yankees shouldn't panic. Losing teixeira and Granderson for 4-6 weeks hurts but its hardly a season ender. They should focus on finding the best defensive 3rd baseman available. Then youkalis can play first and you have a really solid overall defense. With the speed, defense, and pitching the Yankees have, they can still compete even with the big loss in power. Maybe not having tex and grandy will be a difference of 2 or 3 wins over 6 weeks, which could be crucial in a tight division, but they will still have a chance to compete for a playoff spot when everyone is healthy. It's just not worth giving up an asset for a big name player who will have to go back to the bench in may.

How about a deal?

Take 1B Justin Morneau off Minnesota's hands. At $14 million per the Twins might be eager to let him go.
Just saying... contract is expiring after this season so the Yanks won't care about fiscal impact. Carlos Lee isn't a bad idea. Hafner can't play the field and if he's hurt you won't have the Double DH factor to deal with when Tex gets off the DL. Dan Johnson ain't the answer. Neither is Juan Rivera..

Cashman is likely playing the not-worried card publicly. Privately is another thing.

Obviously, this is not the start the Yankees were looking for, at this rate, this could be a very long and painful season. I understand this is spring training, but the injuries to Granderson, and Tex are not short-term fixes, when you're out 8 to 10 weeks and a possible slow start added to that, they could be panic for the Yankees.
