Please. This isn’t about building confidence or player development. It’s about limiting his service time and giving the Mets one more year of control. Which is fine.

Be honest Mets fans…he starts in AAA to save Major League calendar days, buying the Mets an extra year of control before Free Agency. Period.

Agreed, he has to start the year in AAA – and the best AAA team in the Mets organization will be playing in Queens this season.

I agree with all above comments. The goals of the Mets this season is to be competitive and finish north of .500.
I still wonder if they will sign P Matt Capps or P Jose Valverde or P Brian Wilson for some bullpen help.

It is good to know that sanity reigns. Wheeler needs some more innings that are confidence building. To come up too early and perhaps either sit around or get hammered while he is learning will be an impediment to his development. We Met fans all dream of Dwight Gooden in 1984 and that was probably a once in a lifetime event. Zach Wheeler is going to be an outstanding major league hurler. Patience is a good thing.

Even if Santana starts the year on the DL, and Marcum isn’t 100 percent ready, this is the right move.

The last piece of the puzzle that Wheeler needs to work on his throwing his secondary stuff for strikes.
