Didn’t Daniels make/authorize the following trades:

Volquez for Hamilton
Teixeira for Andrus, Feliz, and Harrison
Traded Smoak, Matt Lawson, Blake Beaven and Josh Leuke for Cliff Lee

Seems like he’s done a lot to better the team. But yeah, let’s judge him on one off-season.

When Greinke almost signed with Texas, it wasn’t because Jon Daniels impressed him. It was because Nolan Ryan impressed him. No they didn’t get zack, but Nolan Ryan will do more to attract future free agents than anything Jon Daniels can do.

Is that really the best you can cite. How has he improved the chances of the Rangers to beat out the Angels and the Athletics? The chances of the Rangers of 2013 are diminished from the ;last three years. Daniels should be held as the responsible party. He has been out maneuvered in all his efforts this off season. Fact is fact.

You are completely correct….except for the fact that everyone in the Rangers organization knows that Daniels and assoc. deserve the lion’s share of the credit for the success and direction of the baseball operations, including Ryan, who has stated as much publicly. No one is saying that Ryan has not been or won’t continue to be a valuable contributor, but his contributions have been secondary to those of Daniels….which is why the Rangers are doing whatever they have to in order to keep him and his group from leaving for promotions in other organizations.

Ryan is mad, no doubt about it. But life goes on. I think every effort needs to be expended to keep him, because the fans have a real-life legend to cherish, like Musial in St Louis. It will be a PR nightmare if they let him walk, so the money-bags had better loosen the purse strings and make him an offer he can’t refuse. I think it was wise to offer promotions to everyone in the FO, because they have built a helluva club, but Nolan is an awesome figurehead for any franchise and they have to find a way to satisfy him enough to stay on board.

Thanks Nolan that was a useless statement. I hate when people make statements and use terms like “going forward” or moving forward”. I don’t know much about physics or linear time movement but I’m pretty damm sure none of us are moving backward. Ain’t no going backwards in this life folks.

The Rangers need Nolan Ryan much more than he needs the Rangers. It would be a serious mistake for the frnchise to let him go. Daniels, on the other hand, must have some dirt on the owners. It is obvious that his performance in recent months is less than competent.
